Bourbon Street is a four-piece rock band formed in Byron Bay in early 1987, still fronted by all of its original members, making them Australia’s oldest all-original line-up. They built a reputation as a high-energy 70’s-style cover band before writing their own material, and over the next six years played more live shows than any other band in Australia, picking up multiple awards and releasing three albums, including the cult classic debut ‘Stronger Than Dirt’ (1988).
After a break from 1993, they returned in the early 2000s, releasing ‘Banned for Life’ in 2007 (co-produced by Powderfinger’s Ian Haug), which gave them regional hits with ‘Silver Dollar’, ‘Natural Blonde’ and ‘Rosie’s Bar & Grill’. Since reuniting in 2013 for the Airlie Beach Music Festival, they’ve kept playing festivals, cruises and venues around the Northern Rivers, mixing their own songs with high-energy covers from the Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Stones, AC/DC and more.
